The housing contract specifies that occupancy of college housing begins the weekend prior to the first day of classes in the fall and spring semesters.  The housing opening dates and check-in schedule are published well in advance to enable students and families to plan their travel accordingly.

Members of an early arrival group/team are expected to schedule their return to campus for the day/time designated by the coach/group adviser.  Members of early arrival groups do not need to submit an individual request unless needing to arrive prior to the designated return date for their group.  Individual requests will be reviewed and may require additional supporting materials. There is a nightly fee for returning before the designated group return date.

Individual students (not part of an early arrival group/team) who have unavoidable travel issues necessitating move in prior to the official housing opening days [Friday – Sunday before classes begin], must pre-register and be approved for early arrival.
* The individual early arrival request form will open in MyHousing on August 1st and closes August 15th.
*Individual early arrival may be requested the Sunday – Wednesday prior to the official opening of College housing.
* Early arrival for upper-level students is not available on Thursday, due to first-year move-in.
* Approval of early arrival is not guaranteed.  Requests will be reviewed and if approved, are subject to additional nightly housing fees.
* The nightly fee will not be charged to students with an approved early arrival through Accessibility Services as an accommodation for a medical condition.

Regardless of circumstance, students who return to campus prior to the official opening of housing (Friday/Saturday/Sunday before classes begin) must have advance permission from the Office of Residence Life.  Please do not arrive on campus and put us in the position to manage your housing on the spot.  There are many facets to your arrival which require advance set up. Please plan around the published calendar.  It is assumed that a request to arrive prior to the established opening date is made due to unavoidable circumstances.  For that reason, you may be required to provide substantial supporting documentation (i.e., copies of parent’s boarding passes if they are unavailable during the scheduled move-in time due to travel, copies of wedding announcements if attending the wedding of an immediate family member).

Ultimately, we want every student to move into a residence that has been fully prepared for his/her arrival. Adhering to the scheduled arrival dates/times helps to make that possible.

 

Early Arrival Requests for Fall 2023

Submit early arrival request through MyHousing by Friday, August 11th.  We cannot process requests over the phone or through email.

Individual requests for arrivals prior to Friday, August 25 will be reviewed and the decision communicated to the student.  A nightly fee will be assessed for approved early arrivals.

Cancellations or changes to a previously approved early arrival time must be made in writing to the Office of Residence Life before you return to campus, otherwise early arrival fees stand.

Early Arrival for Spring 2024

Submit early arrival request through MyHousing by Tuesday, January 16th.  We cannot process requests over the phone or through email.

For individual early arrivals on Thursday, January 18th, students will be assessed a nightly fee on their student accounts.

Cancellations or changes to a previously approved early arrival time must be made in writing to the Office of Residence Life before you return to campus, otherwise early arrival fees stand.
