As part of its ongoing commitment to developing a campus community that is welcoming and inclusive, Lafayette offers housing processes which allow individuals to live together without restrictions of traditional gender limitations. We hope to foster supportive environments for all students that value diversity and promote dignity of all people.

Upper-level students interested in living with friends in a mixed-gender group may participate in any Room Selection process.  Students may also choose to affiliate with the Special Interest House, Lavender Lane, which aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment to members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies. Through programming and social events, the group builds a community among Queer students and allies on campus and host events to educate the larger campus community on LGBTQIA+ rights.

Incoming first-year students may opt-in to a gender-inclusive floor (LGBTQIA+ community) through the First-year Housing Application.  This living environment affords students the opportunity to live in a mixed gender wing with a common bathroom to be used by all members of the community regardless of sex or gender expression.   Within gender-inclusive housing, students have the option to be assigned with a roommate of a different sex or gender identity.
