Summer Move-In and Move-Out

Summer housing opens Sunday, May 21st, 2017.

Anyone with a registered move-in date prior to Saturday, June 3 will reside in a temporary housing assignment while their regular assignments are prepared for occupancy (see below).

Anyone with a registered move-in date of Saturday, June 3 (or later) will move directly into their permanent summer assignment.

The summer housing session is set in accordance with the academic calendar. The first day of summer classes is the Monday following commencement. Summer rooms in buildings that house only upper-level students during the regular school year will not be ready for immediate occupancy due to the need to clean and perform maintenance upon the departure of spring occupants.

Buildings with mostly first year students will be used as temporary housing due to their size and availability during the first two weeks of the summer session. Most of these buildings contains one central kitchen and mostly double rooms.

Summer housing closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017.  To facilitate the transition out of summer assignments, those registered for housing through the end of the session (Friday, August 11) may move into their fall residence hall assignments earlier. Information about end of the summer transition will be sent in mid-July.

NOTE: When summer housing closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 11, you may not remain on campus unless you are part of an approved early arrival group and have received permission from the Residence Life office. Additional fees apply.

All students, including those conducting research or participating in Career Services sponsored internships, are expected to coordinate their plans to depart on the summer housing closing date of August 11.

If you do not have a residence hall assignment for the fall semester (i.e studying abroad, fraternity house, private off-campus), please make arrangements for housing beyond the summer housing closing date.

If you plan to depart prior to the end of summer housing, you may not leave items in your summer room or move them into your fall assignment, unless your summer assignment is also your Fall 2017 assignment. The College has a small number of storage facilities and access is limited.  College storage is available only as space allows and arrangements to use it must be made in advance.  The College does not provide storage space for furniture, carpets, or hazardous items.  As needed, you are encouraged to contact one of the several self-storage locations in the Easton area.  Further information about College storage facilities and procedures are posted on the Storage page.

When you vacate summer housing, the room must be completely empty, clean, and suitable for occupancy by another student.  Based on their room condition inspections, Facilities Operations will assess damage and/or cleaning charges accordingly. Residents of suite style accommodations are responsible for cleaning all areas, including the kitchen and bathroom.

New keys will be cut for any keys that are not returned within 48 hours of the official end of the summer housing session (or the student’s registered departure date, should it be earlier).  Charges for lock changes will be incurred by the individual student.  Similarly, charges will be assessed for visiting students who are issued checkpoint tags but do not return them within 48 hours of the end of summer housing.
